What is Bipolar 1?
Bipolar I Disorder is a type of bipolar disorder characterized by at least one manic episode, which may be preceded or followed by hypomanic or depressive episodes. Manic episodes are marked by elevated, expansive, or irritable mood, increased energy, and activity levels, lasting at least one week and often requiring hospitalization. Depressive episodes are also common but not necessary for a Bipolar I diagnosis.
